The struggle for expansion and achievement in this life can be made too serious and too important. There's a peace that comes with the eternal perspective of knowing that you are an eternal being who will live on to be with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the God of the living.
Releasing the Pressure of Time
How often do you feel the weight of time pressing down on you? The ticking clock, the unmet goals, the financial pressures—they can all create a sense of urgency that feels overwhelming. But what if I told you that this pressure is largely self-imposed?
Recently, I've been reflecting on Jesus' words about the resurrection and eternal life. It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day hustle, constantly pushing for more, better, faster. We set quarterly challenges and impossible goals, which can be great motivators. But when our identity becomes wrapped up in hitting these targets, we risk losing sight of something far more significant—our eternal nature as children of God.
Don't get me wrong—having goals and pushing yourself can be positive. It keeps us from complacency and drives us to make a difference. The challenge comes when we let these temporal objectives define us. When we feel existential angst because we're "behind" or not meeting our targets, we've crossed a line. We've let the game we're playing become who we are, instead of remembering our true identity as eternal beings.
This eternal perspective doesn't mean we should stop striving or growing. Instead, it offers us the freedom to pursue our goals with passion, but without the crushing weight of time pressure. It reminds us that our worth isn't tied to our achievements or our bank account, but to our unchanging status as beloved children of God.
So the next time you feel the clock ticking too loudly, take a moment to step back. Remember that you're playing the long game—an eternal one. Let that knowledge bring you peace and restore your perspective. You have more time than you think.
Be Encouraged.
